Tooth Extraction

Oral surgery refers to any surgical procedure performed on the tissues of your mouth and jaw, including your teeth and gums. There are numerous procedures that may require oral surgery. These include a simple tooth extraction or surgical/complex extractions, such as: impacted wisdom teeth, bone grafting and membrane placement, sinus lifts and dental implants.

Bone Graft & Membrane

A dental bone graft is a minor surgical procedure performed to regrow healthy bone, fill the space where the tooth once was, and to prevent any destruction of healthy bone surrounding the other teeth. Our Broomfield practice commonly performs this to save healthy teeth when an extraction of a tooth has taken place, or when placing a dental implant. Often times a collagen membrane is placed along with it.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are surgically placed artificial fixtures to replace one or more missing teeth. The dental implant itself is a titanium post or screw that is positioned into the jawbone, which acts like the root of your tooth. Dental implants are the standard of care today and the best treatment option in replacing missing teeth.

Sinus Lift

A sinus lift is a surgical procedure performed when there is not sufficient bone in the upper jaw to support a dental implant. An incision is made into the gum exposing some bone and then a small window into the bone is made. Once the small window is made, there will be a membrane lining the sinus that separates the sinus from your jaw. In order to lift the sinus up, the membrane is gently pushed upward and a space is created for the bone graft to be placed between the upper jaw and maxillary sinus.

Laser Procedures

Lasers procedures have been used in the dental field for quite some time now and can treat an array of conditions in a number of different procedures. Some laser dentistry procedures, include but are not limited to: cold and canker sore removal, gum contouring, gum disease treatment, biopsies, and teeth whitening.

IV Conscious Sedation

Sedation Dentistry has come a long way and is very popular in the practice of dentistry. It is used broadly and refers to the way dentists manage patient pain and anxiety during dental appointments. Fear of dentistry is real, and because of this, individuals either avoid coming to the dentist or delay treatment until it is unbearable.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation is the oldest and most commonly used technique. It is also the most convenient and economical method used in dentistry. In this method, patients will take medications by mouth. Oral sedation does not always offer the same level of sedation as IV sedation. Oral sedation can be unpredictable and frequently insufficient for most patients wanting a deeper level of sedation. It is usually not enough for those with high fear or anxiety.

Nitrous Sedation

Nitrous sedation also known as “laughing gas” is a safe and effective means of managing pain and anxiety in dentistry. It is immediately reversible and has little to no side effects when used appropriately.
